The Spruce Grove Regals are proud to announce that Michael Claffey will be stepping behind the bench as our new Head Coach—bringing with him an impressive résumé, a championship pedigree, and a lifelong connection to our community.
A Spruce Grove native, Michael’s hockey journey has been nothing short of inspiring. As a player, he competed in the QMJHL with the Shawinigan Cataractes, hoisted an AJHL Championship banner with the Spruce Grove Saints, and captured a CJHL title with the Regals. His deep ties to our city and our hockey tradition make this a true homecoming story.
Off the ice, Michael has built a reputation as a coach who combines strategic defensive systems with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. His coaching philosophy is centered on player development, ensuring every athlete grows not just as a competitor, but as a person.
“Spruce Grove has given me so much throughout my hockey career,” Michael shared. “I’m committed to giving back by helping our players reach their full potential while building a culture of respect, hard work, and team pride.”
With Michael at the helm, the Regals are looking forward to a season defined by discipline, determination, and a relentless pursuit of success—both on and off the ice.
The puck is about to drop on a new era in Regals hockey… and it’s one our fans won’t want to miss.
